 This is the night that Jesus our Lord washed His disciples feet, shared with them the Last Supper, and gave to us a new commandment: “Just as I have loved you,” He says “you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” (John 13:34-35). The word "Maundy" comes from the Latin mandatum, which means “commandment”, referring to this sacred commission Christ gave to all His followers.
