Alleluia! Christ is Risen! Christ Reigns on High!

What a gift that we have been given this week as our Provincial government has continued to safely "open up" New Brunswick, outlining steps which include allowing social visits with families and friends, as well as religious gatherings of 50 people or less beginning May 29. (More info here).

Here at St. Luke's GP, our Wardens & Vestry are preparing in the hopes of opening up worship services again as soon as next Sunday (May 31), which also happens to be the feast of Pentecost.

In order for this to happen, we will need to follow clear government guidelines around maintaining safe distances and minimizing risks, as well as create and follow an Operational Plan. This Plan will be made available to all as soon as possible, but in the meantime here is a heads-up about some of the changes that you will likely notice:

  • First of all, if you are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19, we ask that you please refrain from attending all services (More info here). Though we certainly long to be present with you, this is an act of love and care for each other and for our neighbours. If you need to stay home, please feel free to reach out to Rev. Rob Montgomery directly.

  • We will likely be offering two services each Sunday, at 9:30 AM and 11 AM, in order to help us to worship while maintaining safe distances. If more services are required we may add them in the future.

  • In order to attend either worship service, parishioners and visitors will be required to sign up ahead of time (as an individual or family "bubble"), either online or by calling Rev. Rob (506-608-1772) after Monday May 25. Any vacant seating will be filled on a "first come, first served" basis. More details, including the sign-up form, will follow early this week.

  • We will be practicing Communion in One Kind (Bread Only for Congregants), and there may also be some restrictions to our congregational singing.

  • For the time being, our weekly Fellowship Meal ("Hymn Tortons") will continue to be on hold until further notice.

  • In the Parish Hall, only one bathroom will likely be available during each service, and we ask that everyone refrain from entering the rest of the Parish Hall unless absolutely necessary.

I know these are a lot of changes to adjust to, and there will likely be even more changes ahead, but as we continue to move forward together as people of faith, hope, and love, I know we will still find plenty to rejoice in and give thanks to God for in the days ahead.
