Operational Plan
(Revised September 16 2020)
NOTE: As of October 9, 2020, new Provincial guidelines have been implemented regarding mandatory mask wearing. Please consult the Diocesan Website for more information.
At St. Luke's GP, we have drafted an Operational Plan to help us to know about and to follow the proper Provincial Government's guidelines as a Parish community.
This Plan is a 'working document' which will be revised and updated on an ongoing basis, depending on how things unfold in the days ahead.
We encourage all St. Luke's Parishioners to become acquainted with this Plan, and to reach out to Rev. Rob or our Wardens if you have any questions. Here are a few important points we want to be sure to highlight:
This Plan is a 'working document' which will be revised and updated on an ongoing basis, depending on how things unfold in the days ahead.
We encourage all St. Luke's Parishioners to become acquainted with this Plan, and to reach out to Rev. Rob or our Wardens if you have any questions. Here are a few important points we want to be sure to highlight:
- Parishioners are required to wear "community masks" throughout the service, and we will all need to maintain the required 3 ft/1 m distance (unless we share a "Family Bubble"), no matter how much we want to offer that warm handshake or hug. The exception to the distance rule will be during Communion, at which time the Celebrant will be wearing a mask, and those receiving Communion are asked to keep their mask on until after they have been given the sacrament.
- Congregants will be greeted at the door, asked to sign in, given a service book, and provided with additional information and hand sanitizer as needed. The offering plate will be placed inside the church in a convenient location instead of being passed around during the service.
- Congregational singing is not recommended by the Bishop at this time, but it is likewise not restricted. For now, we will refrain from singing as a congregation, though the choir will be able to sing while wearing masks and using microphones.
- For the time being our weekly Fellowship Meal ("Hymn Tortons") will be on hold until further notice, although we eagerly await the return of this important part of our Parish life. Donations can still be made towards Canon Paul Jeffries & Bishop McAllister College.
- We ask that outside of Sunday Services held in the Hall, and other specific Parish events, everyone refrain from entering the Parish Hall unless absolutely necessary for the time being.
Before Coming Back...
It is very important that we follow the safety guidelines put out by the Province.
Before making plans to come to St. Luke's Church, please look at this Screening Checklist and follow the directions. If you have symptoms of COVID-19, or are worried that you might be at an increased risk of contracting the virus, we ask you to refrain from attending our public services for the time being. If you need to stay home for either of these reasons, do not hesitate to contact Rev. Rob directly. |
"As we begin to move forward together as a Parish, it might be easy to feel overwhelmed with all the changes and added steps to something once so familiar and simple to many of us. Let us remember that this is a time for us to be especially gracious, patient, and kind to one another, and to anyone in our lives in need of some faith, hope and love.
Many blessings in Christ, and I hope to see you soon!"
